Sabetha Community Hospital Offers New Program for Treatment of Parkinson Disease

People living with Parkinson Disease (PD) or other neurological conditions often move differently, with gestures and actions that become smaller and slower such as trouble with getting around, getting dressed and/or with other activities of daily living. LSVT BIGTM effectively trains improved movements for any activity. Research shows that LSVT BIGTM treatment can lead to faster walking with bigger steps and arm swings, better balance and more ability to twist at the waist. LSVT BIGTM helps people with buttoning their clothes, writing and other smaller-movement tasks, as well large movements like dressing, getting up from a seat and getting into bed.

What Does Treatment Look Like? At Sabetha Community Hospital, once orders are received from your doctor, a certified therapist (PT/OT/Speech) will perform an evaluation on you. They will then perform the program with you, depending on your needs.

Those certified to provide treatment are:
Rachel Lemons, DPT
Cynthia Hill, OTR/L
Mandy Graham, MACCC-SLP

The LSVT BIGTM and LSVT LOUDTM treatment consists of:
16 sessions (four consecutive days a week for four weeks)
Individual one-hour sessions
Daily home exercises
