Community Education offered at SCH

The Sabetha Community Hospital is proud to be a contributing partner to the community and people it serves. Our mission is to improve the quality of health and care given to our communities. To achieve this goal, we proudly host a wide variety of educational opportunities throughout the year.

DIABETES EDUCATION

The Sabetha Community Hospital is an AADE accredited diabetes education program! As a recognized provider, most insurance companies (including Medicare and BCBS) acknowledge this national accreditation, and will help cover the cost of diabetes education.

Diabetes education is a collaborative process through which people with or at risk for diabetes gain the knowledge and skills needed to modify behavior and successfully self-manage the disease and it's related conditions. The program is staffed by Certified Diabetes Educator, Lori Menold, RN, CDE and dietician, Leah Heinen, RD, LD. These educators work with participants on an individual basis and through interactive classes. For more information about upcoming diabetes education classes call (785) 284-2121 Ext. 419 or "Click Here" to email her directly.

PREPARING FOR BIRTH & BEYOND

You may have heard the old saying "When you're prepared, you're more confident." The Sabetha Community Hospital wants to help prepare you for your birthing experience by teaching you what to expect and by answering any questions you may have before your baby is born. Prenatal classes at Sabetha Community Hospital include breastfeeding education, baby and infant care, information on the Period of Purple crying, and hospital tours. Call (785) 284-2121 for class schedule.

VOLUNTEER TRAINING

The Sabetha Community Hospital proudly hosts two volunteer cores.
Hospice volunteers donate their time and talents to patients on life's final journey by performing tasks like reading to patients, running errands or just listening and lending emotional support. They work one on one with patient whever they call home.
Hospital volunteers provide services to hospitalized patients in the swing bed program as well as work in the hospital's healing garden, administration and surgery departments.

For more information on becoming a volunteer, please call Debby Thompson, Director of Volunteer Services, at 785-284-1527 or "Click Here" to email her directly.
