Pelvic Floor Therapy offered at Sabetha Community Hospital

The pelvis is the dynamic link between the spine and upper and lower limbs, transmitting weight and torque of varying speeds and directions from the trunk through the pelvis.

It is important to keep the pelvic musculature strong and perform exercises just like one would for the rest of the body to maintain optimal health. Pelvic floor problems could be the source of low back, hip and/or groin pain.

Physical Therapist Rachel Lemons, DPT, has begun treating patients for pelvic floor issues. This is confidential treatment in a private room with a specialized physical therapist.

This therapy is offered for both males and females and can help in the assessment & treatment of the following:

Urinary urgency or frequency
Pelvic pain
Prenatal/postpartum pelvic floor training
Orthopedic conditions of the pelvis, hips, and spine
Conservative pelvic organ prolapse treatment and prevention
Urinary incontinence
Fecal incontinence
Other pelvic floor conditions

Treatment techniques include education, muscle strengthening, biofeedback and electrical stimulation and other methods used to help treat pelvic floor issues.

If you have any questions or think you may need to be seen for pelvic floor issues, contact the Physical Therapy Department at (785) 284-1537.
