Pelvic Floor Therapy offered at Sabetha Community Hospital


The pelvis is the dynamic link between the spine and upper and lower limbs, transmitting weight and torque of varying speeds and directions from the trunk through the pelvis.

It is important to keep the pelvic musculature strong and perform exercises just like one would for the rest of the body to maintain optimal health. Pelvic floor problems could be the source of low back, hip and/or groin pain.


Assessment and treatment of female pelvic floor conditions including:

Urinary urgency or frequency
Urinary incontinence
Constipation
Pelvic pain
Pain with Intercourse
Conservative pelvic organ prolapse treatment and prevention
Prenatal/post-partum pelvic floor training
Other pelvic floor conditions
Orthopedic conditions of the pelvis, hips, and spine

Treatment techniques include the following:

Education about bladder health and pelvic floor muscles
Pelvic floor muscle strengthening
Behavioral strategies to improve continence
Urge suppression techniques
Toileting strategies
Bladder irritant education
Flexibility and strengthening of accessory muscles
Postural and functional retraining of muscles
Modalities (biofeedback)
Soft tissue manual therapy
Instruction for self-treatment and individualized exercise program
Proper body mechanics and lifting techniques
