A Critical Access Hospital
Sabetha Community Hospital, Inc. is a 25-bed facility providing acute care including obstetrics, skilled care, home health and hospice and a broad range of outpatient services. The Hospital has served the community since 1912. Original ownership of the Hospital was by a private physician, then by the Sisters of Saint Joseph. The City of Sabetha purchased the Hospital in 1967. In October of 2001, the hospital became a Critical Access Hospital. The Hospital is currently leased to Sabetha Community Hospital, Inc., a not-for-profit organization, which sub-leases to Great Plains Health Alliance. Great Plains is a multi-hospital management firm with offices located in Phillipsburg and Wichita, Kansas.
Our Services Include The Following
The local medical staff consists of five family practice physicians and three dentists. The Hospital and Medical Staff maintain working relationships with the closest tertiary care centers, so that transfers of complicated cases are handled smoothly. Transfer can be accomplished by ambulance or LifeStar helicopter.
Sabetha Community Hospital, Inc. has developed and utilized many specialty services out of the Topeka area. Physicians specializing in Urology, Obstetrics, Gynecology, Ear, Nose and Throat, Nephrology, Neurology, Allergy, Orthopedics, Cardiology, Pulmonology, Gastroenterology, Ophthalmology, and Podiatry are available at clinics each month. The General Surgeons that do surgery and make rounds each day reside in Hiawatha. The Mobile Diagnostic Services that are available include Nuclear Medicine, and M.R.I. Specialized services provided in-house include Radiology, CT, Osteoporosis Screening, Audiology, Speech Pathology, Laboratory, Echocardiography, Ultrasound, non-invasive Vascular testing, Mammography, Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab, Home Health and Hospice services, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Therapy.
Additional Services and Facilities
The Hospital maintains an outreach office for KANZA Mental Health and Guidance Center, Hiawatha. The office is staffed two days per week. The availability of Mental Health Services helps to complete the Primary Health Care Services the Hospital, Medical Staff, and Employees provide the community.
