Diabetes and You

The Sabetha Community Hospital is proud to offer Diabetes Education department staffed by certified diabetes educators, Lori Menold, RN, CDCES and Ann Wassenberg, RDN, LD.

"Our mission is to equip our clients with the knowledge, self-management skills, and resources they need to reduce their risks of complications and to lead healthier, productive lives with diabetes."

Diabetes is a chronic condition that requires you to make multiple decisions throughout the day to successfully manage blood sugars and prevent diabetes related health problems. These decisions include what to eat, when to eat, when to take medicine, how to check blood sugar, what to do for high or low sugars and how to take care of your feet.

Our services include:

  • Individual education sessions
  • Gestational diabetes education
  • SMART Program
  • Diabetes Support Group
  • Dietician Services

Take Control

Diabetes education makes you more aware of diabetes, what it takes to treat it, and gives you the power to control it. After physician referral, you will have an individual assessment by one of the diabetes educators. This will determine an education plan based on your needs.

Who to Trust

The Diabetes Education program at the Sabetha Community Hospital is approved and credentialed by the American Association of Diabetes Educators. This ensures coursework meets national guidelines and compliance with most insurance plans. Most insurance plans cover the cost of diabetes education, but plans vary.
