Sabetha Community Hospital offers LSVT BIG™ and LSVT LOUD™

The Sabetha Community Hospital has rolled out a new program for patients with Parkinson's Disease. It is called LSVT Global Treatment. LSVT stands for Leo Silverman Voice Techniques. Leo Silverman did the research and founded LSVT BIG™ and LSVT LOUD™.

People living with Parkinson Disease or other neurological conditions often move differently, with gestures and actions that become smaller and slower such as trouble with getting around, getting dressed and/or with other activities of daily living.

LSVT BIG™ treatment is delivered one-on-one and is tailored to each person's own abilities and goals so that they work towards what's meaningful to them. It helps the patient walk faster with bigger steps, improve balance, increase trunk rotation, improve performance of active daily living and helps patients to learn to be more comfortable and confident of the everyday life movements.

LSTV LOUD™ treatment is a standardize treatment protocol customized to each patient's communication goals across a range or disease severity and communication impairments. It works on increased vocal loudness, improved articulate and speech ability, improved intonation, improvements in facial expression and changes in neural functioning related to voice and speech.

The three professionals that will be providing the treatment for this program are:

Rachel Lemons, DPT
Cynthia Hill, OTR/L
Mandy Graham, MACCC-SLP

To become part of this program you need a referral from your doctor. After setting up your appointment with the therapist, they will do an evaluation and determine how to set your program, specific to you. Your treatment will consist of 16 sessions that will be 4 consecutive days a week for 4 weeks, individual one-hour sessions and daily home exercises.

If you have questions or would like more information, please contact the Physical Therapy Department at Sabetha Community Hospital at (785) 284-1537. THINK BIG! SPEAK LOUD!
